Finally made contact Saturday, received a bid in Sunday. His price is about 30% higher, but they, (it is actually two partners), can start this week. Even at 30% higher, it is 1/2 of some of our other bids.
We are still signed up for the other guy on Oct 4th; we may keep this date while I get the main bath prepared to be updated. Though I’m very concerned that I won’t be able to make that date. due to the overlap of this tile job, letting it all cure, and ordering and installing the shower door. However long that all takes, would then be subtracted off the dates between now and Oct 4, since I can’t start in the Main bath until the Master is operational again.
In Order to get a good idea the tile design, we laid it out on the living room floor. Alex was instrumental in coming up with the tile pattern. It is great how the remodeling is pulling us closer as a family. In my opinion, that alone is worth the money invested.
Here is the general idea:
This first picture is a little dark. The stones represent the floor of shower. The middle three columns represent the back of the shower. The right side will be the side that has the shower head and a shelf for shampoo.

I like the design. We wanted something that was not just a repeating pattern but not totally random. Alex came up with a good solution.

Cabinet Hold Up.
We received the order for the cabinets a couple weeks ago. They are taking up about 1/4 of the garage. Linda and Wendy took about seven hours on Sunday to inspect each one and find any problems. All of the sink bases where made with particle board instead of the plywood we ordered, and several have imperfections.We are not sure how the company will respond or what kind of delay this will cause. We are no where near ready for installing these. The first required one will be in the Main bath, so we could be out in the October time frame at the earliest.
Sweet Sound of Progress.
I wrote most of the blog yesterday. Today the tile man is installing the backer board and will start building the shower pan. In 8 days, the tile should be complete. We will need to install a shower door, texture the walls, paint, and put up towel racks. It is great to be seeing progress happening.Related articles (from newest to oldest)
